Mindspace University
Rules & Terms of Participation

There are currently 100 free available seats for the top Applicants from Greece, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and Croatia to get full access to the program’s sessions (Part A). For the Entrepreneurial Part B, the best 8 teams that will be selected from the Educational Part A will attend the Entrepreneurial phase and participate in the Mindspace University Final Pitching event at no cost. All Applicants will be informed on whether they got accepted into the program or not. The participants of the Mindspace University program:

Get access to attend all sessions in the Educational Part (Part A).

Need to sign the program agreement, no later than 5 days before the program’s official starting date, at the dedicated platform. Detailed instructions will be provided upon acceptance.

Applicants can apply as a Team or as an Individual. Each Applicant is welcome to apply to the Mindspace University program as an Individual and find a Team during the program via a series of online team meeting sessions and group networking events during Educational Part (Part A). Each Applicant is also welcome to apply as a member of a team, stating in the application the team’s name and members.

Each Participating Team in the program must consist of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 individuals.

All Participants must be over 18.

Submissions must be the original work solely of the Participating Team. Each Participating Team Member represents and warrants to the Mindspace organisation and the Mindspace Team that she or he has all right, title and/or interest in the ideas submitted, the startup, and business plan, and that by submitting an entry to the competition she or he is not and will not be violating any contract or third party rights, including but not limited to any patent, copyright, trade secret, trademark, publicity or privacy right; or disclosing any proprietary or confidential information of another person or entity.

The Applications and Submissions must be submitted online within the stipulated dates. No late entries will be accepted.

If selected as one of the 8 ideas, at least one member of the Participating Team must be present at the mentoring sessions, the Final Pitching event, as well as the Final Awards Ceremony.

The Mindspace Team reserves the right to disqualify at any time any application or Submission that in its judgment violates the letter or the spirit of the program guidelines, terms, processes or rules. The decisions of the Mindspace Team are final. Any violation of these rules will disqualify a Participating Team from the program and result in forfeiture of any prize or competition benefit awarded to the Participating Team.

Any Participating Team or Participating Team Member engaging in immoral activities, including lying, cheating or any activity that may adversely affect the image of Mindspace University, will be disqualified at the discretion of the Mindspace Team.

Participating Teams and Participating Team Members will comply with all applicable laws related to their Application, Submission and their participation in Mindspace University.

Any content included in the Submission (including the written descriptions of the idea/startup, the online submitted deliverables and the potential pitch video) as well as any work conducted during any stage of the Mindspace University Program may be shared by the Mindspace Team for any Program or publicity related purpose, and will not be considered confidential.

Participating Teams agree that any pitch videos or videos from the Mindspace University Final Pitching event may be uploaded to the Mindspace Video Portal related to Mindspace University Program.

For any doubt about the legal status of a Participating Team, Team Member, third-party intellectual property, or any other aspect of the team’s Submission, the Mindspace organisation strongly urges the Participating Team to seek independent legal counsel. The Mindspace Team cannot provide any legal advice regarding intellectual property or any other issues during Mindspace University.

A grant of 10.000 Euros will be provided from the organisation "The People’s Trust" to the 3 winning teams (1st team receives 5.000 Euros, 2nd team receives 3.000 euros and 3rd team receives 2.000 Euros). Terms and conditions apply:

The winning team will create a legal entity with headquarters in Greece and a Greek VAT number.

The legal entity will have as its object the business idea that will be presented (and let the evaluators to select it as the winning team of Mindspace University).

The shareholders of the legal entity shall consist, at least, of all Team Members who participated in the winning team of Mindspace University. In the event that a participant does not wish to join the legal entity, they sign a specific waiver of any rights he or she may have against The People's Trust.

The payment of the prize money by The People's Trust to the legal entity of the winning team will be made once a contract is signed between them.

The signing of the contract of the winning team's legal entity with The People's Trust and the disbursement of the amount will take place within 12 months of the end of Mindspace University (June 2024).

The amount of the prize money will be deposited into the account of the legal entity, that will be established, in a Greek bank.

Mindspace organisation and Mindspace Team shall be held harmless by each Participating Team Member in the event of legal action involving the Participating Team or its Submission.

The Mindspace organisation is not responsible in any way for agreements between Participating Teams or Participating Team Members and third parties.

Participating Teams must disclose any funding already received at the time of application. There are forms of funding that may fall into a grey area. In these cases, the Mindspace organization will deliberate on the eligibility of a Participating Team and communicate the decision to the Participating Team.

Participating Teams must not have a legal entity at the time of application which is related to their project during Mindspace University.

All Participating Teams agree to participate in media and press opportunities related to the Mindspace University Program. These opportunities include, but are not limited to:

All Participating Teams may be asked to provide a short written description that will be made available to the media and may be released publicly, either in part or in its entirety.

All Participating Teams may be asked to speak to the media for Mindspace University-related interviews when requested by the Mindspace Team.

All Participating Teams may be asked to provide quotes and/or content for any of Mindspace University-related press releases.

All Participating Teams and Participating Members agree that the photos/videos where they appear and were taken during Mindspace University and its relevant events can be used by the Mindspace organisation for marketing or program-related purposes.

Participating in media and press opportunities in no way requires Participating Teams to disclose any proprietary or otherwise confidential information related to their businesses. The Mindspace Team agrees to provide consultation to any team, upon request, to avoid such disclosures while participating in press related opportunities.

In no event shall (i) Mindspace Organisation, its Trustees, Directors, Officers, Employees, Students, Volunteers or (ii) the Judges and Mentors be liable for any advice, information or decisions made in the course of Mindspace University or for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages of any kind, including economic damages or injury to property and lost profits, regardless of whether the party or parties had been advised, shall have other reason to know or in fact did know of the possibility of such damages.
Glossary of Legal Terms

Mindspace Team: In Mindspace University, this term includes judges, mentors, Mindspace staff, Mindspace volunteers, and “rule makers”.

Participating Teams or Participating Team Members: the Mindspace University participants.

Application: The typeform that each Participant fills in prior to the Application deadline, declaring their interest to participate in the Program, by filling out the requested information.

Submission: the video, business plan, idea, and all other information requested as a deliverable during Mindspace University, submitted by the Participating Team.

Mindspace University: All the stages related to the educational and competition part of the Program (Virtual classrooms, Webinars, Teams Formation, Ideas Formation, Submission, Mentoring sessions, Finals) and any activity relating to them starting from the 20th of May and ending on 23rd of June 2024.

Prize Winners: any Participating Team that receives a prize.
